The Chase Girls are an enterprising and hard working group. They had some money to earn for camps this Summer and so they made and sold 26 dozen cinnamon rolls in 2 days. I was so impressed with their hard work and great attitudes. I'm also super grateful for everyone who bought cinnamon rolls, such kind people to support the girls efforts to pay their own way.

We tried something new this time and pre measured all the flour and butter a few days before.

Taking a tasting break!

tonsils

October started out with Isaac losing his tonsils. It was a rough day and a rough week and a half recovery. Let it be known that both Isaac and Nelson are angry when coming out of anesthesia. As always, Isaac was an incredible sport about being so sick but I was so glad when he was finally feeling better (Just in time to go back to school after an October break spent on the couch).

september

Hello all! How about some September? Here we go!

We have had some lovely rainstorms, also some stunning sunsets!

Games still entertain (thank heaven).

We had some sickies at the beginning of the month. Isaac got strep AGAIN, so the tonsils are coming out!

Emily continues to raid the New Era for wall art.

I learned a few new hairstyles. I wish my girls would learn so they could do cool hair on me.

Nelson started pre-school with Miss Marisel. Despite all my worries, it has been a HIT! Hooray!

Emmy asleep with Calvin and Hobbes.

The girls' bathroom  went from two of these pathetic, ugly things to...

eight amazing hooks all in a row! HUZZAH! Now I need to paint and replace the toilet - ikk.

We had spirit week at school. Here they are for Wacky Wednesday:
Sarah

Nora and Emily went for an edgier look - hmmm - and Isaac with Calvin hair.

Fun times!

school 15-16

One must document the first day of school! Here we are in our July 20th glory!!

Sarah is in Kindergarten with Mrs. Yirku and loving it! She also loves her collection of pink dresses.

Isaac is in Mrs. Peters 2nd grade and I assure you, I have fixed the bad hair cut!

Emily is Queen of the school in Mrs. Gutierrez's 6th grade and taking it all very calmly.

Nora is in Mrs. McNeeley's 4th grade with most of her class from last year and that has been fun, so far.

Nelson is at home with MOM, and thrilled about it.

Diana is blazing the Chase trail at Bogle Junior High and doing an outstanding job (heaven knows there will be many more Chases after her and I appreciate her setting the right standard).

Here is our step picture, although Nora better watch out, Isaac may pass her up!

And...silly.

cousin hike!!

The week of July 4th all the men-folk congregated and we had our cousin hike. It was a fantastic trip. the only downer was Grandpa had hurt his back so badly that Grandma would not let him go. We really missed him

Here is the motley grew, ready to embark. It was SUPER hot that week (triple digits in Cache Valley - ikk).

After only a 30 minute drive we arrived at the trail head and started hiking. It was 5.1 miles up and quite a bit of elevation - plenty hard for everyone (except Mel, who carried all the heavy food and hiked in and back in the same day. She does not like sleeping over night and had to drive to Provo for rehearsal that night anyway - she is an animal!).

You cannot see it in the photo, but this whole bowl was COVERED in wildflowers.

The kids spent hours harvesting them. They were incredibly gorgeous.

We had a great campsite and Uncle Michael's hammock was a hot item.

The kids swam (did I mention it as insanely hot?).

Fished (no fish, but still fun to be manly and try).

Roasted things over the fire. Thank you Uncle Stephen for converting us all to brats last summer; they are delicious. And, thank you Aunt Mel for carrying them up the mountain.

More hammock love.

Good morning faces.

A view from the ridge before breakfast because Ryan can't just be satisfied making it to the camp site. Nope, one must go to the TOP!

Diana and I trailed along. Gluttons for punishment and a great view.

And on our way home again!

You can see us all strung along the trail. The kids did so well, especially considering the heat. Troopers all!

week with cousins

Our last week in Smithfield was lovely -  just lots of playing with cousins.

We had a nice rainy day so, of course, we played outside.

Uncle Brian took the group out for Aggie Ice Cream and it was SCRUMPTIOUS! Yes, that is a brace on Sarah's arm. She broke it - again. She has a buckle fracture so no cast, just a brace for 4 weeks. sheesh!

More rain.

Then the sun came out, so we took all the umbrellas to the splash pad - so fun!

We also tried to eat sunscreen sticks...

And did eat cookies!

Yep, a good week with cousins.
