a great family home evening

Emily gave the lesson last week in Family Home Evening and it was a HIT! We took a cue from Aunt Jessica who is a master at making learning interactive and memorable. No matter the topic, she always has a fun way to apply the material and even if it is a stretch or really has nothing to do with the topic the activity always engages her kids.

So, Emily wanted to do a lesson about the Grinch ??!?!?, so we decided it would be about being grumpy (like the Grinch). Each person in the family drew a card with a situation such as, "Your sister moves your spoon at breakfast and it makes you mad! What do you do??" (we deal with really serious issues at our house). Then they had to say how the Grinch would act or how a cheerful Cindy Loo Who would act. Now, here comes the random part, the person got blindfolded and had to pin the star on the Grinch's nose. It was so random, but they LOVED it and now we have a fantastic Grinch hanging in the kitchen to remind us to not be Grinches.

Diana won the contest and promptly admitted to being able to see under the blindfold! HA!
