first day

School has begun! Diana and Emily headed off to MacArthur this morning for 3rd and 2nd grade respectively. Nora's bus comes at about 11:30 for pm kindergarten at Hermosa Vista and she is already driving me CRAZY asking when it's time to go for her bus and reminding me that she is not really patient (duh)! Isaac is at Eisenhower in the pm on T, TH, and FRI with Miss Lindsey for speech pre-school, so our bus schedule is very interesting 3 buses all at different times - sigh. Still I'm hoping with everyone in school from at least 12:30-3 Sarah, new baby and I might get some quiet rests and naps in the afternoons and with Nora home in the mornings she can do piano and homework before school and thus avoid the after school meltdowns that seem to prevail at our house. I'm also hoping to motivate Diana and Emily to get their stuff done before Nora comes home (she is a half hour later) so we can have a swim in the late afternoons. Here's to hoping!

All lined up and ready to go. Emily opted to wear her "cute" outfit tomorrow because she has PE today and her tennies would just not work with her other ensemble. Diana doesn't care and Nora, of course, chose her flowered skirt she made herself (with help) and a shirt covered with butterflies that doesn't really match:). Nora also needed fluffy hair so her hair has been in a crown braid since last night so when it is released it will be bee-you-tee-ful! At least she has opinions. I gave Isaac a hair cut last week and it was a dismal failure, so a few days later he got butched. He looked in the mirror and exclaimed "Me bald, like Gwampa!!"

Diana and Emily have a new bus driver this year. I will miss Jared; he was a mix of low-key/ no nonsense and he understood that the Chase kids sit in the FRONT (with the Milletts). Oh well, maybe Jared finished college (he got married last year) and is off to bigger and better things.

We are hopeful Nora's bus will come without too much trouble. In years past it has been a few days to get the half day bus figured out and so we have had to have mad rushes to school. That might just put Nora over the edge!

Where is Nora at? MacArthur or Stapely? You're giving the MPS a good run for their money in the bus dept! :) Have fun everyone.

I went to MacArthur Elementary in 1st grade (we were living in Grandma and Grandpa's house while they were off on one their jaunts...we had just moved there from UT). It was a good year. Have your kids always gone there?

None the less...they all look great. How exciting to start a new school year. I always love the structure and rhythm that comes with school (and then I love the freedom of summer for a few months too).

Holy cow, how can you keep track of all the schools and all the bus times? You are amazing. Enjoy the quiet afternoon hours, a couple days a week!
